What no anesthesia teeth cleaning is
It is a cosmetic and preventive cleaning done while your dog is awake and calm. We remove the visible tartar and plaque from the tooth surfaces above the gum line, polish, and leave the mouth fresher. Dogs who tolerate handling around the face do well with it.
What it is not, and we would rather say it
This is not a replacement for a veterinary dental under anesthesia. We cannot clean below the gum line, we cannot take dental x-rays, and we cannot treat an infected or loose tooth. If we see signs of dental disease, we will tell you and recommend your vet instead of taking your money.
Good candidate
Mild to moderate visible tartar, healthy pink gums, a dog that lets you touch its muzzle, and an owner who wants to slow the build-up down.
Send to the vet first
Red or bleeding gums, a loose or broken tooth, strong persistent bad breath, or a dog that will not let anyone near its mouth.
Best results
Combine the cleaning with a full groom, then keep it up at home. Regular maintenance beats one dramatic cleaning every two years.
Why bad breath is worth taking seriously
Owners usually book because of the smell, but the smell is the symptom. Tartar sits at the gum line, the gum inflames, and from there it becomes painful and eventually costly. Catching it early is the entire point of this service.

Is teeth cleaning without anesthesia safe?
For the right dog, yes, because nothing invasive happens. The limitation is coverage, not safety: we only clean what is above the gum line, and we only work with dogs that stay calm. Anything more than that belongs with your veterinarian.
Does it replace a veterinary dental cleaning?
No. A veterinary dental under anesthesia cleans below the gum line, allows x-rays and allows extractions. Ours is preventive maintenance between those, for dogs whose mouths are still healthy.
How often should it be done?
Every three to six months works for most dogs, adjusted to how quickly your dog builds tartar. Small breeds and short muzzled breeds usually need it more often.
Do you clean cats' teeth too?
Ask us when you book. Cats are far less tolerant of dental handling while awake, so we assess each cat individually and will say no when it is not fair to the animal.
